It’s that time of year Cavs; it’s Homecoming! Students of all grades are getting ready for the upcoming school dance, either preparing what to wear on the dance floor or buying tickets for homecoming activities before the main event. While for class officers and volunteers, their main focus is the battle between the homecoming hallways.
All classes fight for the most appealing and interesting hallway, as they prepare to show their final product this Friday to the school and judges. This year’s theme is “Lost Cities,” with the freshmen class representing Wakanda, the sophomore class representing Pompeii, the junior class assigned Mount Olympus, and the senior class getting Atlantis.
“Going into Homecoming hallways, I expected it to be chaotic and messy,” explained junior class Vice President Breanna Curameng. “That’s how I experienced it last sophomore year.” Curameng also explains how she is nervous because of her “big responsibility as vice president to make sure [their] hall looks good and puts a good image for [their] class.”
“I’m excited to see it all come together, during the decorating from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the final day,” said sophomore class President Mia Spruill. “I’m also excited about the volcano that we are currently creating right now.”
Spruill says their greatest challenge for them is fall sports. “Everyone either has a game or practice,” Spruill explains. “I just believe people are more busy during sophomore year.” Spruill also believes the sophomore class is going to win, but says “The class of 2025 is a little scary, and the seniors [have] class superiority.”
Overall, every class is excited to see all of their efforts come together and are looking forward to the judges’ final decision about the battle of Hoco hallways.
