It’s finally that time of year. The leaves are falling, it’s getting colder outside, and the sky darkens a little earlier. Fall is a favorite season for many people for reasons like Halloween, pumpkin flavors, and just the vibe of the season. But for people like me, Homecoming Week is the highlight of autumn.
Coming into high school, I had no idea what to look forward to or what things there were to do. Now, as I’m in my third year of high school, I can undeniably say that Homecoming is the best time of the school year. In this column, I’ll be breaking down each day of the week in hopes of encouraging everyone to participate during this week and to share my love for the PA traditions we have during this time.
Today is the first day of HOCO Week, the beginning of many magical moments and super fun memories! Today’s spirit day is “Sleeping Beauty Day,” where students can engage by wearing their pajamas. Honestly, if you don’t at least take part in pajama day, you’re kind of doing yourself a disservice. I mean, who doesn’t want a free pass to dress comfy and warm? Not to mention, you can finally wear the onesie or those fuzzy pants without being looked at like you’re a weirdo. Also, if you don’t participate in spirit week, then you’re just no fun. When did having school spirit become “uncool” to everyone?
While we have no events for today specifically, there are still many ways to stay involved and be a part of this enchanting week! You can find out how to help your class with their HOCO hall decorations. Each hall will be judged and scored on Friday morning, so any help you can give is appreciated. The freshmen have the lower 300 hallway, sophomores have the upper 300, juniors have the upper 200, and the seniors have the lower 200 hallway. You can visit your class’ Instagram page to find out more about when you can help, or you can contact your class sponsor for more information.
Thank you for tuning in. Join me tomorrow for the second day of the best week of the year. Have a Happy Homecoming, Cavaliers!
