Hello Cavs, and welcome back to the Homecoming Week column! While today had some ups and upsets, PA is looking forward to recapturing the glamour which (usually) is Homecoming week. Now I know how much I’ve been hyping up this week and now it’s been less eventful than usual, but this week is what made me love PA even more, beyond the warming students and staff. So, for any newcomers, don’t let this year ruin your reputation for Homecoming as a whole; next year we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled program.
Today’s spirit day theme was definitely in homage to us theater nerds; even though it seemed like the basic “green or pink,” the Wicked fan inside of me was extremely happy. Not to mention, this was a well-thought-out theme, extremely easy for people to follow, and relevant in pop culture. I saw a lot of participation, so this was definitely one of the better themes this week. Certainly better than yesterday’s “salad dressing”.
Now, let’s get into today’s upset, the cancellation of the bonfire. After lots of people bought their tickets and plans were ready to go, the weather decided to ruin all the fun. I love a good rain when I want to nap or go to bed. However, why did this have to happen the same day as the one and only bonfire? Two good hours of fun, bonding, and school spirit, all for the small price of three dollars, and now the rain decides to wash all our plans away. Honestly, let’s make a plan to reschedule, especially now that we don’t have the movie in the lot either, a tradition from previous years. We need something else to build up to the game and the dance!
Yet again, another reminder for Homecoming hall decorations, please help out everyone! Tomorrow, anyone who wants to help can stay after school until 10 p.m. and help their class decorate and finish set-up, just as long as you have parental permission and a signed form. Talk to your class officers or your sponsors to learn more about how you can help.
To make up for today’s tragedy, everyone needs to show up and show out for the hallways, the rest of the spirit days, and the game. I want to see PA shirts, face paint, maybe even some fans doing the legendary PA Rumble. Come back tomorrow for the fourth day of Homecoming Week, and don’t forget to stay involved!
