Whirling vindictive storms lash at the shores
Where once I had receded, I now wage my wars,
Swallowing sand and land, I return for what was once mine,
The memory is etched in each swathe and shine.
A magnetic pull ushers me towards vast built up structures
Leaving wounds like open ruptures,
I was never meant to be so high,
“But you were the one that warmed me!” I cry.
My waves roar, screaming to be heard,
As I try to right the wrong but your selfishness was preferred.
Now you reap what you sow,
I envy every landmark now from head to toe.
Warning you once – no twice now,
You dig and burn and destroy, forgetting your broken vow.
A vow to make a change was it?
Now open your eyes and see my inflicted damage upon where you sit.
“Admit it! Admit what monster you’ve turned me into!” I wanted to scream,
But soon enough your shouts of realisation are drowned out by my scheme.
For now it is too late as I drag your lights out, ignoring your desperate pleas,
Roads and your tower blocks see my wrath and now tremble to their knees.
Once I would’ve allowed you to tread on me,
But now I will fight for the rest of eternity.
You turned your back on my cries before,
Now your structures fall in heaps and tons once more.
