This survey was conducted prior to the CDC’s announcement that people ages 12 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Only eight percent of PA students over the age of sixteen do not plan on getting the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the results of a recent survey conducted by The Page, while another eight percent say that they will need to discuss the matter with their parents first, and 15 percent say that they are unsure. However, nearly 70 percent of students say that they do plan to or are already fully vaccinated.

Forty-nine percent of students are or were not nervous at all about receiving the vaccine, while 36 percent of students are or were mildly nervous. On the same point, 15 percent of students indicated that they are or were substantially or very nervous about being vaccinated. A number of anonymous respondents indicated that their apprehension is on account of a fear of needles. 

Furthermore, 66 percent of students reported that they and their parents would come to a shared decision, following discussion of the matter. For 25 percent of students, the decision will be independently theirs, and for nine percent of students, the decision will be made by their parents alone. 

For the whole school population, the margin of error is ±2.1 percentage points.
