The Haunted Hunt Club Farm officially opened its doors on September 26, marking the 37th year since its opening. Following 1988, Hunt Club Farm has offered a spooky Halloween-themed horror experience at its farm. Awarded one of America’s Top-Rated Haunts by the Haunted Attraction Association, Hunt Club Farm is ready to begin the start of a new Halloween season.
This year, Hunt Club Farm is providing four scary attractions: Forbidden Fields, an evil corn maze; Village of the Dead, a reanimated village made to scare guests; Haunted Hayride, a terrifying ride through an abandoned circus; and Cemetery of Souls, a haunted cemetery with spooky ghosts. Every attraction focuses on a different theme, providing a diverse experience in each one. Each has its own set of actors specialized for every section, from evil spirits to moving dolls.
“The Haunted Hayride was super scary, ” said sophomore Gabrielle Baudin. “The banging on the trailer freaked me out.” The Haunted Hayride includes clowns, possessed dolls, and a chainsaw used to scare riders.
Hunt Club Farm ensures that it continually improves its experiences by providing a more intense atmosphere each year. This year, they have made improvements to each of their activities by incorporating more high-tech props throughout the attractions. From a claustrophobic inflatable section in the Cemetery of Souls to the jumping dog in Village of the Dead, they have included new features for every attraction.
In addition to its scary attractions, Hunt Club Farm has a variety of roaming actors scattered throughout the farm, ready to scare visitors. Other employees are present to help direct and answer questions from guests. Guests are also permitted to dress up to show off their costumes.
“It’s a fun place to scream and hang out with friends,” said Kasey Weigl, a high school student who attended the event.
Hunt Club Farm offers additional activities for visitors besides the scary attractions. Hunt Club Farm offers a dance floor with a DJ and inflatable bounce houses that guests can buy passes to. With this, Hunt Club Farm also offers access to its Harvest Fair amenities, such as its pumpkin-picking section and Harvest Fair stands.
The event also provides food stands that serve fair food along with additional stands selling an assortment of Halloween-themed items and offering services like psych readings.
Haunted Hunt Club Farm has organized event nights throughout its season, including Scary-Oke, where guests are invited to do karaoke on stage, and Line Dancing in the Barn, where attendees can participate in group dances.
“The events were exciting,” stated Aiden Fakunmoju, a sophomore at PA. “It combined being scary and fun at the same time.”
Hunt Club Farm has an adult costume contest on Halloween night, where guests can compete for the first-place prize of $1,000. The following night, on November 1, they host a pumpkin smashing event where 100 guests have the opportunity to earn prizes.
For those who are interested in helping with the various events, Hunt Club Farm offers multiple opportunities for young teens to participate. With parental permission, teens who are at least 15 years old can become part of the fight cast. Those who are too young or not interested in scaring people, 13 to 17-year-olds, are allowed to volunteer. All applications for participation can be found on Hunt Club Farm’s website.
Sophomore Jackson Kenny shared his view of the event: “I think Hunt Club positively affects the community because it brings people together and allows us to have fun.”
